The great escape – well hopefully!

The weather has calmed a little or we are getting more used to it! We have had enough of the seaside and watching the black backed gulls use our decks for gourmet meals of freshly caught crab – we want to go home!  We saw a very odd phenomena when it rained – the sandy beach appeared to be covered with water (the photo shows this clearly). We did one sorti up to Scarborough Castle and promptly got soaked for the umpeenth time! We have paid our dues here and filled up with diesel – the plan being an early morning slink out of harbour to fight the inevitable a head wind down to Grimsby which we must reach on a making tide (early evening) as the river Humber ebbs at 5 knots. Watch the winds go North as we arrive at Hoo – I can almost put money on it!!

Spot the 3 boats with their yellow battle flags!

Spot the 3 boats with their yellow battle flags - you may pick out my burgundy hull . A clue - we are behind each other!

The German boat, Koller, left this afternoon to make her way up to Whitby – she lives to sail another day!

Hi, I hope that you managed to escape the harbour without waking any demons. I am really looking forward to seeing you all again, lets hope that the weather and tides will be kind to you and let you get back quickly and safely. With any luck you got some sleep before having to make an early start again. I have been trying to get hold of the woman from the Epilepsy Support Group to get the name and address of the people to send our final article to once you have got back and recovered enough to think about writing the log up in full and putting all the details in!
I expect you are right about the winds and that they will change to northerlies once you get back, perhaps I should pop down to the bookies and see what odds they would give me…….. that would help fill the buckets!! (If they are not already full.)
Anyway, we are all really looking froward to seeing you again when you get back.
Safe journey and may all those demons be left behind…. hopefully caught up in all the lobster pots!!
Love Maggi, Gordon and kids. xxxx
